Pets can bring life and love to your home. At Rose Garden & Pet Store, we have a variety of pets for you to choose from including:
- Tropical Fish/Salt Water Fish
- Pond Fish
- Baby Chicks
- Guinea Pigs
- Ducklings (Around Easter)
Guinea pigs are very friendly pets! They can be used as a school or home pet. We have all the supplies to go home with these fun little critters. Supplies may include a cage, hay rack (most likely included with the cage), hay, bedding, a hide house, guinea pig food, a bowl for food, and a water bottle for water. We also sell little treats and toys to spoil your pet!
Feeding: An important aspect of your guinea pig's diet is hay. This will keep your pet healthy! Hay types that we carry include timothy hay, orchard grass and blend, alfalfa hay, and bermuda hay.
Cage Maintenance: It is very important to keep your pet's cage spot-clean and change the bedding every couple of days or when needed. Food and water should be cleaned daily. We carry different size water bottles that hook onto the inside of any cage for easy access.
We have baby chicks on hand for your spring flock which should give you summer fresh eggs.
Some of the dual purpose varieties that we carry are Rhode Island Reds, New Hampshires, and White Plymouth Rocks or Barred Rocks. These are medium size American breed birds and weigh 5-6 pounds at full maturity. They lay eggs with brown shells and are good for families who want both meat and eggs.
LegHorns is another variety in which we carry that are good for egg production. They produce white eggs and are lightweight birds which weigh approximately 4 pounds at maturity. They are white feathered birds which lay at a high rate when well managed. One disadvantage is that they tend to fly over fences.
For pets or hobbyists, we also carry Bantams, which are often chosen for their unusual characteristics in feather patterns, comb types and plummage color. They are 1/3 or less the size of standard breeds.
Some of the other varieties we carry are Buff Orpington, black and red Sex Link, Americanas (which lay blue/green eggs), black Austrelap, and Silver Lace Whyandotte
Ducks (Pekings & Mallards)
